Winner {me} and Wings

The Dragons wings are opening, on the sweet potato plant.  I think they will catch the wind just right!

And now for the Winner news.  I, me, myself, won something. I don't win things.  Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket today.  Anyway, Jo @ Pieceful Afternoon was having a giveaway for her 10,000 visitor.  SHE had her math right, unlike other people we know {I, me, myself}.

Also, I have added a "Followers" feature....so add yourself!

Cat Bed

I have been wondering when one of the cats would find the doll bed. Finally last night I went looking for the RocketMan, and there he was, all curled up in bed.  He is still with us {he's the one with the tumor} and doing pretty good despite the growing lump on his nasal area.

He's So Excited.....

he just can hide it....from me that is.  Danny is thrilled about the baby being a girl.  He is happy that he can give his grandfather a girl as there are all boys in grandpas life.  Danny will be a good daddy no matter what the baby's sex is, so I guess that is all that really matters.  Right?  Right!

It's A Girl

Spirals, Dragons, aRobot, Color

From my mom we have inherited hair that begins in the back with a Spiral, A, as in singular.  But looking upon Lily's head the other day, I noticed she has 2...Dual Spirals....going in opposite directions. {I couldn't hold her on my knee and get a good pick at the same time.} Sweet.

Dragon looking leaves on a sweet potato...or is it the yam?  Anyway, love the micro focus on my camera, gets the hair on the plant stem and the stray cat hair....
Ashley gave Stephanie this cup because of the robot on it.  The wings for a handle are pretty cool too. Notice how cheap this is...the candy sits up above the rim in the first shot, but that is just a trick. That plastic piece in my hand holds the candy up. Makes a great pencil jar, though.

Have I mentioned before how much I love color?  This I found on eBay. It came in multiple packs of thread.  Not the greatest of fiber, but should work wonders for couching and other embellishing.

In Some Places, Size DOES Count

My brother and sister in law live in Small Town, Can.A.Da.  So what do you do on Small Town Saturdays?  You go find the Beast you hear is being moved to the north.....well...not this guy....he is something they see every time they drive to Edmonton, The Big City. This truck is being taken south for repairs.
This is the Beast.....

This is a Pressure Vessel, something needed in Ft. McMurray where there is oil.  There are 2 trucks pulling it, as you can see in this picture, and 3 pushing it [you can see 2 of them side by side in the picture above].  This does not make tight turns!  It seems all the low hanging signs and power lines have to be taken down before it can pass.  Can you picture this scene in L.A.?  Sure beats watching paint dry!

Feeling Sad today

Our cat RocketMan, the big orange guy in front, his face isn't so pretty today, the right side of his nose is all swollen.  We, well, the Vet, thought it was an infection, and it responded to meds.  It was about a week later that it started swelling again.  The Vet is pretty sure, now, that it's a tumor. We have him home now, but .....

Still Sick

The cold I had last week took a u-turn and slammed back into my chest.  Damn.  I did get to meet my new doctor today, I think I will like him.  He wants me to take antibiotics, not so much because I have a raging infection in my chest, as he wants to avoid that possibility because of my asthma.  Damn.

The picture?  Oh that's something I found on Google, a Sunny Day In Ireland.  Why? Because I know that's why you come here, for my pix.
*smile*
The picture I did want to post is a painting you can find here...scroll down the page to the Sunny Day.  Sun is good.

Bad Math Skills

Ok....so Steph, my left-brain-math-resident, pointed out that I have like 900 visits to get to 10,000.  I guess I can say it's official, my left brain has turned to mush.  Now that I have admitted that, I find that I can live with this, especially since I want to make some gifts for my visitors here. So speak up peoples, so I can figure out how many gifts to create!  I fixed the 'comment' section so anonymous  can leave a comment, but please tell me your name!

10,000 Sheep

For those of us who need visuals....here are 10,000 sheep!  {picture in NZ} Holy Woolly  Mammoth Batwoman, that's a lotta knitting potential

Party Hats

So I googed 'party hats' in images, of course, and got 52 pages worth!!!!!!!!  Did I look at all those pages....no way jose, I just kept clicking on the last possible link until I came to the end.  LOL

Ideas Please

Pretty soon the visitor counter on the right will tick over to 10,000.....wooooowhooooooooo.......so what should I do?  Find something to give away?  have a blog party?  If I could make virtual party hats, would you wear one?

Wallpaper for Valentine

I was cruising the blog world and came across this bit....you can put up a valentine wallpaper....on your computer, of course.

2 Hour Scarf

My DIL got this skein of yarn from Goodwill because she wants a green scarf.  So I crocheted this one last night for her.  The yarn is not a good one, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that she likes it.  I have some other yarn I got to make her scarf from, a bamboo, so I will try that next.

Doll Beds and more Leaves

I made this doll quilt...gee...over a year ago.  Finally found a bed for it on eBay for 99cents...that's right, 99 pennies! Being heavy, the postage was a bit much, but we won't talk about that.
Yesterday I had pulled a pillow case out of the laundry to fold, and decided it needed to be turned into a doll bed mattress and pillow instead, so that's what happened! {that's the pink parts of the bed}
And a bit more progress was made on "Leaves" . I actually spent more than an hour on it, turning under raw edges for the applique, not that you can tell by a simple picture.

Crochet

I have made a little progress with the 'cupcake' tops.  Megan calls them hats and likes to play with them, see the dolls foot there, proof of young children in the house. And why is there clothesline going out the window? Why it's holding up a power source outside the window.  Why a power source hanging out the window?  It leads to the generator, in case the power goes out.  Ahhhh.....considering this is Vicky's explanation, it makes sense....
Megan wanted to crochet, so she wove the 2 hooks into this bag and said something like "ta da".
This is the bag.  I am using the cotton yarn I got a few weeks ago. the yarn isn't soft and cuddly, so it works for things like bags....and cupcake ornaments.  This bag is being crocheted in the Tapestry tech.

Color

I just needed a shot of color, right in the veins.

Color

I just needed a shot of color, right in the veins.

Snow Again

Our computer is next to a window, which means I get to sit in the daylight! Todays daylight shot is of the snow as it descends to the ground. Though you can't tell by this shot, it is falling just slow enough to watch a single flake fall to the ground.  These are not round flakes by any means, they look more like torn paper flakes, with un-even, raggedy edges.  I can be happy because I don't have to drive in it, not that it's sticking yet....

College # 2 Mr. Sulu

Stephanie has now also been accepted to WaZoooooooo.......
W.S.U....Washington State University, in the eastern half of the state.  The letter says something about $5K for being a good student.....to help pay for college tution.... YIPEEE!!!!!!!YAHOO!!!!!!!! COW A BUNGA!!!!!!!!!  CA-CHOW!!!!!!!!!  TO INFINITY AND BEYOND!!!!!!!!!!  ok, i'll quit.

from another blog....

I found these pix at 'print & pattern', a blog I now check out every day, because they have lots of fun things every day!  This little? big? cardboard house is being added to my ideas on gingerbread house ornaments, which of course would not be your average version of a g/b house, not coming from me at least!

The pitchers are another idea for Steph and her ceramics-class-idea-blockage.....IE: she is having trouble coming up with creative ideas to make creative things in ceramics, I think her heavy-left-brain is keeping her right side from surfacing much this year.  Must be a senior-thinking-college thing. ....

More "Leaves" Progress

I worked on the side border on "Leaves" and have decided to use the batik I showed you the other day.....yesterday???  Ah Well....I would show a picture of today's work, but it would probably just look confusing...so I am posting this picture instead....  you can find more of this lovely creature by clicking the link to the "Sea Slug Forum"   tha's right folks...they have they own forum, lucky slugs!

Happy Birthday!

Today is my dad's birthday and even though he isn't with us anymore, we now have a new Scott in the family, born today to my niece.

Happy Birthday Evan Scott!

What's on Your Wall??

A giant picture of my cat....oh wait....not that.....
Here's what Dan put up.  {The cat was biting her clawnails, although crunching is a better way to describe the sound she makes.}  Anyway, I made this quilt a mess of years ago when I took a Quilt U. class from Bethany Reynolds, the creator of Stack 'n' Whack.
I named it Meta-morphass.
I used a butterfly print that didn't work really well for this method of piecing. ~ Say La Vie~  I gave it to my mom for her house and now that her house is my house, I get to put it up here!
Our backyard as it is now.  *note below*
Well.....what do you think about the batik in the middle of the 2 blues?  I am thinking of using this one for the next 'border' area.  It kinda goes with all the colors.

*from above*  A mess of years ago...like when I was a teen....I was with a friend, she was driving, and we passed this guy jogging in a t-shirt that was cut off above the waist.  I hollered out the window at him "Hey, didja get that shirt at a half off sale?" and broke into gales of laughter as only a girl teen can.  That joke has stuck with me, and that's what I thought of when Dan finished putting up the fence on our 'new' property line.  "We got half off our backyard!"

"Envelope Please"

Stephanie got this big envelope from Western Washington University and I didn't think anything of it when I saw it sitting on the table because she has been getting flyer's from all sorts of colleges....But no, this one is different, this one says "Welcome to Western!....Admission with Distinction..." {bet they say that to all the kids}

Our first college acceptance letter!  Ok, so it's really for Steph, but gosh if we parents and siblings and grandparents and aunts and uncles and friends and and and....didn't have something to do with it!  {now to win the lottery to pay for it}

Yesterday we had the girls, Megan and Lily, and it was a better day than I expected. {i am not big on babysitting, but i am a wonderful grandma} Lily, almost 6 months, sat on the floor and watched me vacumn, I was not expecting her to care for the noise since Megan had hated it. Megan, meanwhile,  got to go outside with grandpa and work on the fence project.

I got no sewing done. darn.

"Leaves" progress #2

Here is the whole thing so far.  Longer than it is wide. No I don't know how long it is, I forgot to measure it.
This picture is a Picasa collage of the 2 ends.  Why did I do this?  To confuse you to no end....{insert-horase-y evil laugh that cartoon dog did}
One end closer up.
And the other end closer up.  Hopefully this gives you all a better idea of the way I am doing the border....I turned under the seam allows and machine stitched them down.

Unusual things

Usually I post unusual things during Advent....but you know I come across them all year long, so here are some more.  The above is a teapot. Yeah, I know. Way unusual! I keep thinking it's an ornament because of the hook looking thingie on the top...
I love this chair.....and swore I already posted it....anyway, it's really the lamp I like...a lot.
This is a jewelry box!!!

And how the heck did I miss this the first go round....This is a doll bed from Ikea that the blogger bought for her cat!
