O it feels sooooo good to be stitching with a needle again....

ok, so I haven't actually put the hook down for good. I had saved some crochet "experiments" in case I wanted to add them to some future project. Of course, once I got started adding those, I felt compelled to make more...

Compelled, I tell you.

It was pointed out, the family resemblance between the girls, who have different parents. Then #2's other grandmother noticed how much of me is in all 3, here. Probably the shadows making it evident.

My stitches.  I didn't want to buy more yarn, so the stitches from the pattern had to be nixed.  Which makes me sad, because I loved them. But I like my 'wing it as I go' creations too. On the very outside rounds, I just kept going with the single crochet stitch until I ran out of that color. To strengthen the last 2 of those rounds, I did a 2-ply [two yarns tog] single cr., going around twice. Actually stitching over the last 2 rounds/rows. Enlarge the pix to get a better look-see.

This is for Bobby, not the baby, so don't freak out about the beads. This is an OOAK...now that I have finally figured out what that stands for...One Of A Kind.

I started at the tip of the trunk and stitched her to the end of her tail, all in one piece. She's not perfect, but I LOVED making her. [elephants are led by a matriarch, a strong female. the bulls, males, are kinda on the outside of the family group.]

I didn't make this bear. Her jacket, though, was made by my mom or grandmother, not sure which. She is Steph's, given to her on her birth day.

And these...are ornament starts for this year. I get the holiday-creating-itch really bad after the holidays. Some before, but more so after!  

So this time I scratched it!

I realized I hadn't shown off the finished animal hoops.  

The otter is the only I didn't really 'adorn'.  I didn't have a sea shell. {It did get attached to a hoop, and the otter attached to the 'watery' base.} Ashley had a shell at home for it.

Otter for Avery. Cat for Devyn. Dog for Lily. Turtle for Rhiley. Owl for Megan.

That's #s 4, 5, 2, 3, and 1.

#6 got a garland. And #7 isn't here yet to get. 

Oh My, A Fabric Addition

But first, crochet.  I was trying to make my crepe-y hand look less  wrinkled, and came up with really creepy hand...

Anyway....

CollegeGirl picked this↟↥⇑ palette,{macaw feathers, swoon} for a 'baby' blanket.  But my school of thought is, who uses a crocheted 'baby' blanket past the third day of birth?

So I am making a round blanket she can toss on the couch, or bed, and use anytime. {Random pic below.}

Sheepjes Catona. Mercerized cotton, so shiny.  I could have used another cotton yarn, but fell in love with this one.

The Circles panels are all sewn together, with the fill-in blocks from the same fabric line.   I even have it pinned to a backing, no middle layer, and ready to stitch on. After I get some crochet things made up....oh...↷look...↙crochet...↶

This is the blanket, so far as pictures taken. I am about 24 inches across now, so imagine 2 of these rulers across.

And I have lots of fun other created things I haven't taken pix of either. 

Gah. Like. [writing this down to remember]

The elephant is almost finished. I created some bees, gnomes, deer and ?? for ornaments for the holidays. I get these great ideas after, so I am going with them for before....this years.

In The Last Month....

A Girl and A Wooly/Fuzzy Bear

One day in the Neighborhood....

....a house, in 2 parts, was pulled down the road....

...for a woman to replace her shoe her old one....

Seriously though, this woman and her husband have been working towards this day for 3 or 4 years!  They haven't been able to move into it yet, but it's here!

The Bride and Groom had a House Warming party. So I left them a gift on their bed. I'm not sure if I am done with it yet, but I signed it and gave it anyway. 

I think it will go nicely with top wall color...They don't care for the bottom color, but are tired of painting for this year.

This months stitching's have been with yarn and hook. This is now a rug. That I want to add to....since I have more of the yarn. It's a cotton yarn that isn't soft and cuddly.  But works for a rug.

Then with Dan's birthday coming [now gone by], I decided to crochet a pair of slippers for him, since I already had the yarn.  They are rather goofy looking, though they keep his feet warm.  But...he doesn't care for the texture of the crochet on the bottom of his feet when he walks in them.

Turns out I was trying to get a shot of a moth on the window.  The close-up of it is the blur against the green tree.  Go ahead and laugh. I did.

On the 12th day of October, the Jet Stream brought to me...

Thunder and Hail.  So very loudly!  

And it was just a swath of the area, wild.

More crocheting.  I had started a really, really long strip last year that I was going to use for a garland. Did not like it, put it away.  Came across it and decided to re-work it into another rug. As I was doing just that, I realized it might work on the dust mop as a wet-mop thing. I was right, works great.  If you make one yourself, make it smaller than the mop head, as you can see, it was a bit big, and got really loosey-goosey when it was wet. Still worked though.

Next...I had made a hat for my SIL with this yarn, thought I would make a scarf for my daughter. Wrong!  The yarn had broken ply's in so many spots there were more knots than not.  I threw it away.

I have had this ball of soft colorful yarn for a few years now. Nothing I made with it looked quite right...see the star? and how the colors are just out of whack?

Well....Then one day I started up with this green yarn, thinking another mop thing.  But the stitch I was using, sc ch 1, was increasing to much. Made a twirl.

Which led me to the rainbow yarn....which made me think of Unicorn Tails.

Which made me search for other colors of yarn in my stash.

I don't have a picture yet of a completed 'tail' because they aren't there yet.

But that is how the Unicorn Tails came to be.

They will be given to our grand girls as tree ornaments.

Magic.  It's all Magic.

Game Farm, Pinata, String

My youngest, Steph and her Bearded boyfriend, who are devoted Sounders Soccer fans, went to the Olympic Game Farm  where you drive among the animals...large animals!  You toss wheat bread to them and take interesting pictures.

Ashley got to go first, her bday celebration, her gets first chance.

Then the kids got a go at it. This time in size order.  That's because

biggest granddaughter, Megan, [#1] is a pro at smacking open the pinata!

Grandma's creative endeavor last week was to make pumpkin cards to send the girls.

the middle card is for all 3 of #2's girls, thus the 3 eyes, 3 hearts, 3 U's

With a paint swatch titled "pumpkin patch", I 'wove' 3 p'kins for the front.

I kept the colors names visible on the other 2 cards too, for #1's girls.

Lame? Sure. Fun? Course.

Somewhere along the line, I forgot to mention that my MIL has written a story book! The Adventures of Bronty the Little Dinosaur.  My FIL drew the pictures for it, and my daughter copied one of them into string for them.

She has also been working on ornament sized stringys.

Back in April...2015....I was working on a shrug for myself. I was using up the various wool yarns I have. But I just wasn't liking the shape. So I FROGGED the whole thing!!!!

And have started over. So far it looks pretty much the same as these pix. 

"Frogged" means undo, unstitch, pull the yarn back into a ball.
