Something New From Old

My mom found this bathroom vanity, without sink,
at a garage sale, in the 2000's.
She assembled the plywood top and used it for...what ever she used it for. Might have been for a microwave in one dwelling.  It moved in with mom, and has stayed in this room since.
Why yes it does have a drawer....full of storybooks, that will change.
That is all that was in this thing.
Since Christmas, this has been the new occupant, the great big roasting pan [110 power] so we don't have to use the oven [220 power] when we want to roast something large. For hours.
So....that big pan takes up a lot of counter space when in use. I have the crappiest kitchen design, so counter space is limited.
I asked for a cart for this roasting beast.  I looked at this un-used cupboard, and decided it would do. BUT....it needed wheels.
Fast forward to last week.
There, on top of a trash can, sat a broken furniture dolly.  Complete with carpet on 2 ends, and WHEELS on all 4 'corners'.  Dan decided to re-home this poor broken dolly, and Vicky knew exactly what to use it for.
excuse the blurr....dan does not like waiting for the camera to focus
See those wheels???  They are beautiful!!  and to the right you can see the wheels to the heater caddy....yes sir I love those wheelie things.

Now I have a mobile kitchen island, that can be wheeled back to the sewing room when not needed.

Heat For The Hummingbird Feeder

Now that we have some rather cold weather, a lot of people on local FB pages were wondering how others keep their feeders from freezing.
We have done something different every year, so this is this years.
I think this may be a keeper.
Already have.
1. Outdoor table.
2. PVC pipe "stand" created for the summer umbrella, to make it higher.
3. Tin paint can re-purposed for the 3rd time.
4. Ceramic light bulb socket-thing, wired into a wall socket box, with a heavy electric cord and plug. Probably re-purposed also, like from an extinct appliance.
5. Scrap of wood.
6. Another section of PVC pipe and a 'join' to add even more height to the pipe.
7.  75 watt incandescent light bulb. First try.
7.2.  40 watt bulb to see if that will work. Nope, not enough heat.
[Love LED, but no heat output for this purpose.]
8. Piece of tin foil to cover the bulb, that got all sticky anyway when I put the feeder back up.

I would re-purpose a floor lamp if I didn't have a husband who decided to use the table already outside.

So there you have it.

Another Completion, a Start, a Middle, a Puzzle

MonkeySquirrel click to enlarge
This.
Well...it started out like the Bear I made for #6, something to teeth/chew/slobber on, and washable! Along the way I changed my mind and tried for a squirrel. Near the finish, it looked more like a monkey.
This one is for Max, #7. His mama likes squirrels.
So who is into monkeys?

I started this 'scene' in Nov. or Dec. 2018.
I have been adding bits to it as they came along.
I just started stitching, so I consider it a 'start'.

The "Women's March 2017" needs working on.
This is the "middle" part of this post. I think.
[Click on the label on the right side to see all the posts with this work in them.]
As I looked at the whole cloth, I figured it's time to add the words to it. Which led to an idea to try couching yarn to shape the letters. No pink yarn, but this pair of girls leggins' has pink in it. Since I had been given permission to 'do what you want with these, mom,' I cut them up!
As you can see, knit fabric, when pulled, curls up into nice tubes.
Rather yarn looking, right?
Now to try it out.
Dan decided to finish the puzzle I had started. I sat in that chair in the background and crocheted. He used his phone to enlarge the picture, so he could find things, without taking a photo of it. No magnifying glass around here. Need to change that for sure.
I got puzzles for the families. This one is now done!
[we don't have children to interrupt, mess with, lose bits]

So Far In September

The birds are a pair of Junko's. The bee's are...bee's?
I was going to add the name of the yellow flower, but I have forgotten.
Moving on....the trailer has moved back home.  We were trying to sell it.
The truck is a rental, we were able to sell the truck right away.
Again, moving on...a back hoe tractor was brought into the neighborhood to prepare a lot for a new manufactured home! This beast  ripped apart the old metal trailer in giant bites.
On Friday, the 15th, 3 family members went to the airport.
On he way was a stop at Denny's for an early dinner.
Dan, Grandpa, and our daughter Ashley, with her daughter Rhiley, were going to Las Vegas for the wedding of our youngest daughter, Stephanie, the College Girl.
Gpa with Grands, in the plane, and waiting for the plane
 Views from Las Vegas,
Of things IN Las Vegas, and environs!
The sharks were in a tank you can walk thru, via a tunnel.
Before the wedding, some got to ride IN a limo!
Bride[before dressing] and Groom, Groom and FlowerGirl, and in the limo
Here in Washington, we watched the ceremony on tv, via the wedding chapel.
Ashley's other 2 girls, Avery and Devyn, were here to watch with me.
They had ice cubes and apple slices.
On the tv, if you enlarge the picture, you can see the lobby of the venue. [That reception wasn't to bad, but on The Terrace, where the kids were married, the video was poor, but better than nothing!]
My MIL took this pic after the ceremony.
Mr. and Mrs.

I did not go to LV because I prefer not to fly.
I have barely done any stitching.  I need to change that!

Circles 13, 14 and 15 And More

I was loading the camera card and noticed the last 3 panels of the Circle Project. Humm.....seems I forgot to post them.
I went outside the box on this last one.
Now I need to put them up on the wall and arrange.
But first...I had a Family Get Together to get through.
I am not a natural hostess person, I stress about it, a lot.
But I really enjoyed having all my children, and their spouses*, and their children here. You can enlarge the pic.  One niece is getting a bit big for her aunties lap, but her cousin fits just right. Whereas, her baby sister fits in her cousins lap, just right.  2 cousins were busy playing elsewhere, so only 4 of my 6-pack are in the pix.

The eclipse. 8/21/2017
Most of my pix of it are like this, so I might as well include the dog, Page.

* Ashley is going to point out that her spouse was not there.
So I will beat her to it. He had to work.

Scrappy Things & Patches 61 to 64

A scrap of paper my mom had made a note on.  She made notes like these all the time to share with us.  It also made her a good Jeopardy player.
I finished this cloth, scraps gathered together to take to the hospital to work on while waiting for Dan to have his heart examined.
I added a stick that I had been saving.  This one has no meaning to it at all...just a plain ole stick, except for the fact that I had saved it.
(yes I have sticks that have been saved that have meaning)

I left this flap free to flap.
I had torn the scrap for weaving other scraps. decided not to this time.

I even added a line of satin stitch between scraps.
Here is the Daily Patch calendar page for Jan.
Not mentioned is the days are getting longer!!!!
And Patches 61 to 64. 64 was G H day, Feb. 2, not a Beatles song.
The 62 patch was an odd shaped piece to fill an odd shaped area. Makes me think of the Sydney Opera House.
If you enlarge the picture, you will notice the letters I stitched in. ??
I have had this 9 patch scrap around for a long time. Not stitched.
I just had a need to work on It, on any It, that day.
Maybe it will become something other than an It.

The 22nd Week

Of this year started out with a Birthday and ended with a Wedding!
My daughter has always liked the number "22", and her first 2 girls were born on a 22, but not the 3rd.  This year #3 gets to be a "22" also.  And we feel the Groom and Bride will be favored with the same Karma.
I say Groom first because he is my son. I now have another daughter also.
I played with this photo...
Groom and Dad of groom.
Bride and her Dad. {My granddaughter had the camera.}

The lovely madrone tree beside the Hood Canal, WA

The Bride's Father, the Groom's Mother, the Bride's Sister.
Toasting....though I was roasted...it was HOT that day and in that building.

Inside.

Ben, the Groom, made the Cupcake Tree, the "Thumbprint" Tree painting, and they both made the candles for the guest gifts.
Row 1.Groom with Pastor, Groom dau.'s Lily and Megan, flower girls!
Row 2. Devyn would NOT look at the camera. BTW, she was the bday girl
Row 3. Bobby, SO of Stephanie, also in yellow.
Even though no tables were marked Brides family, etc, we ended up sitting together with family.
Grooms family at one table, Brides at another, and the wedding party at the center table.

It was the perfect day along the Hood Canal, hot with a nice breeze off the water.
Everyone I talked to said, "this is so unusual for June, isn't it??"
So week 22 ended perfectly for our family!

Family Bits For Today

This child.  She loves to color. Rainbows are her favorite, she almost always adds them to any picture she is making up.  She is very careful with the crayons too, which I secretly love, because I like to be careful with them too.
When the grandgirls come over,  the first place's they head for is the table with the paper and coloring implements. Honestly. They. Do!
If I happen to leave out a piece of paper, like the "love" piece I printed up recently, it will surely get colored. This one is by her older sister. She took home the one she did.

So this is a curl. I love this curl.  It is from my son's head when he was a child, a tween, I guess.
He never liked long hair, didn't like the feel of it on his ears.  So to let this one bit in the back grow for over a year was eventful.  Of course it didn't touch his ears, so that helped.
His first child, Megan, has curly hair. Now we can see where it came from [this bit was pinned under many layers on a wall]  His second child, Lily, has straight fine blond hair like I had.  Not a curl, a wave, or even a bend to be found in that hair!
Ben's sister had some curls like this when she was young, and her hair was long, but when I cut her hair hoping for more curls....I got straight. Heavy, but Straight.  Serves me right for cutting it.
However....HER girls ALL have densely curly hair! Like this tail that once grew on my son's head.
Lily
Rhiley
Onto the next item of the day.
A tree.  For her Daddios.  {middle child talk}

He LOVES it!

Fiber projects are progressing.  I made another hat for my Dear Dan. Just like the other one.
I will have to take more pix of the other fiber bits and pieces. Maybe later.
Happy Love Day!
