Stuff

Patches still going strong. On the 'wander' patch, I satin stitched all around the edge of the words part/scrap. Like a regular patch you would see on...well anything you put a patch on.
Seems like triangles need to pair up with squares lately.
Except for this next one...
This one is really basic, for now. I stitched the 2 triangles together, [before I could match them to a square]  wrong sides together, seam allowance to the right side. Maybe that flower needs to become a roof on the square??
Below....came across this in the search for something else. This was started before Ashley had children! [almost 10 years now!]
I cut apart a works I had made while taking one of Jude's classes. There is part of a soda can, a lid to bottle, labels from clothes, an accidental dinosaur that appeared when I was trying out stitches....Oh, and the ribbon I pressed and melted when I was giving it a bit of flattening.
For all the years the deers have been coming heres,
they haven't ventured into the veggie garden....until now....
This deer is standing in a planter box, the blue thing, nibbling strawberry plants in another box.
Guess we won't have cherries from those blossoms. I will worry about what they are getting onto when and if the time comes.

Leaf

Way down on the south forty, as we call it, I noticed a glove hanging in mid air.
Turns out it was a leaf.  And the only place to see it like that was from the kitchen window.
Another wallie completed.  There hasn't been an opportunity to donate yet, to any school or Scout fundraiser, so when Ashley mentioned she liked this one....well you know the rest.
I photo'ed it laying down...sideways...

I have been doing other stitchy stuff, just no pix to prove it.

I have been watching the news....the CampFire has me preoccupied. I am from that northern area of CA. Thank fully, Grace has kept us all up to date on the animal side of things, from her car in the parking lot of the Gridley Fairgrounds.  Many many animals have been taken there, or arrived there, including Grace and her goats.  The care the animals are ALL getting is so very heart warming.  UC Davis, the university for animal husbandry, sent at least 3 mobile vet trucks to the fairgrounds.  All surgeries are done, all burn wounds are cared for, all of it for free.
Grace says "until" is the word of the days. Everyone will stay there...until. Animals won't be moved...until. They are just as homeless as the people who 'own' them.  Many are nameless,  family-less, on top of it all.
And now they are taking in the people who have been in the Walmart parking lot since the fire began.

Peace Pin

Liz, down in Texas, had a Peace Project last year. She made these Pins and sent them to those of use who responded to her.
Mine is on that wall in the first photo. Among the Chaos.
The moments of daily life in my house.
See....?  Tucked between Special sticks?

Liz is working on another Peace Pin for this year.
So I pulled that Special Pin out of the chaos and pinned it to a Special Cloth I made. I then moved things around. This is not the end result of those movements, but you get the idea.

Did you notice the Dark piece to the left?
The Juxtaposition of Peace and Chaos.

A gentle moment. Tiny feathers taped to the board.
Humm....the larger one to the right looks like an eye.
Juxtaposition.

A Ladder On My Wall

I finally have the ladder on my bedroom wall. This ladder is old. Dan brought it home one day, decades ago. We set it up for the cats to use, to get over the dog fence and into the house. Now it holds...stuff.  I am still working on it.
⬇🔻This is Ken. He is decades old too. I have his other arm, it kept falling off. Ken needed something to wear. I figured he would not mind a pair of crocheted shorts...he is from that era, after all.
So as I was digging the yarn out, I  flashed on a 'new fashion statement', Rompers...for men
So I set to.
It wasn't until I was working on the 'shoulder straps' that I noticed the 'cup'.
It's ok to snort when you laugh...I did!
It disappears when I put the rompers on Ken.
Did I mention I do have his other arm???

ꜜ⤵⤹➘⏬I am also creating an elephant...made all in one piece, starting at the trunk. And yes I probably should have stitched up the legs differently, but I can't change it now, it's a lot further along than you see here.

In The Last Month....

A Girl and A Wooly/Fuzzy Bear
One day in the Neighborhood....
....a house, in 2 parts, was pulled down the road....
...for a woman to replace her shoe her old one....
Seriously though, this woman and her husband have been working towards this day for 3 or 4 years!  They haven't been able to move into it yet, but it's here!
The Bride and Groom had a House Warming party. So I left them a gift on their bed. I'm not sure if I am done with it yet, but I signed it and gave it anyway.
I think it will go nicely with top wall color...They don't care for the bottom color, but are tired of painting for this year.
if you click to enlarge, you will see my signature in the r. bottom corner
This months stitching's have been with yarn and hook. This is now a rug. That I want to add to....since I have more of the yarn. It's a cotton yarn that isn't soft and cuddly.  But works for a rug.
Then with Dan's birthday coming [now gone by], I decided to crochet a pair of slippers for him, since I already had the yarn.  They are rather goofy looking, though they keep his feet warm.  But...he doesn't care for the texture of the crochet on the bottom of his feet when he walks in them.
On the camera....a bunch of pictures...of What???
Turns out I was trying to get a shot of a moth on the window.  The close-up of it is the blur against the green tree.  Go ahead and laugh. I did.
On the 12th day of October, the Jet Stream brought to me...
Thunder and Hail.  So very loudly!
And it was just a swath of the area, wild.
More crocheting.  I had started a really, really long strip last year that I was going to use for a garland. Did not like it, put it away.  Came across it and decided to re-work it into another rug. As I was doing just that, I realized it might work on the dust mop as a wet-mop thing. I was right, works great.  If you make one yourself, make it smaller than the mop head, as you can see, it was a bit big, and got really loosey-goosey when it was wet. Still worked though.
Next...I had made a hat for my SIL with this yarn, thought I would make a scarf for my daughter. Wrong!  The yarn had broken ply's in so many spots there were more knots than not.  I threw it away.
I have had this ball of soft colorful yarn for a few years now. Nothing I made with it looked quite right...see the star? and how the colors are just out of whack?
Well....Then one day I started up with this green yarn, thinking another mop thing.  But the stitch I was using, sc ch 1, was increasing to much. Made a twirl.
Which led me to the rainbow yarn....which made me think of Unicorn Tails.
Which made me search for other colors of yarn in my stash.
I don't have a picture yet of a completed 'tail' because they aren't there yet.
But that is how the Unicorn Tails came to be.
They will be given to our grand girls as tree ornaments.
Magic.  It's all Magic.

Circles, Neighbors, Caterpillars....

My design wall in the sewing room doesn't have a fabric cover over the foam insulation, that's why there is silver glaring back at you.
Anyway...that is the current state of Circles. Not arranged at all, with 2 of the panels at the top folded in half.  Stay tuned....
Neighbors.  We have this gentleman, and his wife, moving back into the 'hood. [long story]  Well this guy is a doer. Today he was 'doing' a bit of tree trimming. His son helps him.  Talk about a really cool gadget to have!  And I am not talking about the riding mower. Did I mention this guy is 80 something??
And this brings me to the Caterpillar.  Am trying to figure out who it is in it's next life. For now I will admire it as is.
Other stitching's.  I put this together one afternoon. I call it "Girl".
For now. Not finished.
I found this Bug pencil drawn on a scrap of white in a box of gifted fabrics, from a few years ago. I finally decided where to use it, so I stitched on the pencil lines, and will give it beady eyes.
Then I will attach her to this piece of in-progress whimsy.
Working title for this is "house."

197 to 203 Daily Patch

We interrupt this daily patch with a broken bone. Must be summer!
Avery. Same arm as last summer, don't know yet if it's related to that injury.  No cast yet. I feel so bad for her.
Wildlife! On my daughters screen. A silk moth. She knew I would want a picture. Of course.
The daily thing is getting full. This is panel 4 and this is pretty much it for more places to patch.  I will smoosh in some scraps, on this one and possible on one or more of the other 3 panels. Then it will be time to sew the panels all together!
So exciting.

Day 200 was Fathers Day.  The girls surprised their daddios by stopping by and bearing gifts!  PB cookies, his fave, with a few cho. chip for variety. Both homemade, of course.
Mending. My neighbor asked me if I could repair a tear. It needed to look good on both sides, and no crazy Vicky stitching....I could have used a white scrap...
I have never done "invisible" stitching before. Gah.

I was fascinated to learn (re-learn?) that the California Condor has a very colorful head. I had probably only seen BW photos while growing up, in California. We learned about them in school.

84 to 90 Patches, Collages, and Dinosaurs

Feb. 22 to the 28th. End of the month of Feb. I put my foot down....hahaha
After stitching that odd shape yesterday, I noticed it was a boot shape.
#87 is left hanging, thus the other fabric behind it to emphasize it.

i photo'ed these all sideways
I thought I would show all 5 collages for the girls, in one place.
Penny Berens asked if I had let the girls help with these.
Alas I did not.
Can you picture 5 girls, ages 11 to 3 [who is a master scissor operator]  ALL with scissors in hand AND a bucket of novelty fabrics? Keep in mind that young children ALWAYS cut from the middle.
Fabric costs to much.
But no fear, I will let them help with an I Spy quilt as soon as I feel like getting on it. I will cut, they can arrange the blocks. And tell me stories of why a rocket ship should be next to beavers.
I had a lot of fun putting these tog for my girls, and I am still working on them. I am adding beads and such.
This is what got me started on the beads.  The dino print is of skeletons. I was going to satin stitch the "thicker" bones....and then I got struck by a light bolt and got out some beads. Oh yeah...much better!  Though I did do the heads in stitch with pearl cotton.

This was a cloth that started with the olive-green print, that I had one small square of. I can't stop when it starts to come together.
Below is a shot of the Giraffe Cam.  I am flipping through all sorts of cams while I stitch. I enjoy listening to birds calling [feeder cams], or sea lions grunting [sea side cams], or geese honking, those on the eagle cams.
