Stuff

Patches still going strong. On the 'wander' patch, I satin stitched all around the edge of the words part/scrap. Like a regular patch you would see on...well anything you put a patch on.
Seems like triangles need to pair up with squares lately.
Except for this next one...
This one is really basic, for now. I stitched the 2 triangles together, [before I could match them to a square]  wrong sides together, seam allowance to the right side. Maybe that flower needs to become a roof on the square??
Below....came across this in the search for something else. This was started before Ashley had children! [almost 10 years now!]
I cut apart a works I had made while taking one of Jude's classes. There is part of a soda can, a lid to bottle, labels from clothes, an accidental dinosaur that appeared when I was trying out stitches....Oh, and the ribbon I pressed and melted when I was giving it a bit of flattening.
For all the years the deers have been coming heres,
they haven't ventured into the veggie garden....until now....
This deer is standing in a planter box, the blue thing, nibbling strawberry plants in another box.
Guess we won't have cherries from those blossoms. I will worry about what they are getting onto when and if the time comes.

The Women's March

Last Thursday, 2 of MY women went to our state capital, Olympia, on a class field trip. They got to meet 2 Women Elected last Nov.,
who represent the local areas.
This is my daughter, her daughter, and Senator Emily Randall. She heard there were some Kitsap Kids in the house, so she went out to greet them!
The other representative they met was Michelle Caldier, the Republican member of the house, but no picture with her, darn it, because we can be bi-partisan too!

I figure this is a good day to update my Women's March 2017 WIP
[work-in-progress]  I am not done, but the Marches March on today!!

I crocheted teeny tiny PussyHats!
Working with the 'yarn-strips-cut-from-leggin's' was so much fun!!  They aren't stitched down yet, just basted. But I am sooooo glad I took this pic, because I can now see my M is not quite right.
The 'bird's eye view of the Marching Women.
The whole piece. And yes it is wobbly, and will probably not lose that charming feature. The round blueish part?  Why that's our Big Blue Marble.

And because this little guy could not have been born without a Woman, my other daughter Steph.  He is really here to show him playing with the toy his Other Mother made for him.
Other Mother?  All the eggs a woman has are made while in the womb of HER mother, so in essence, we are carrying our future grandchildren.

Picking Patch..es

Yesterday was a family day. Girls everywhere.
Sisters
Sisters + niece
Sisters! (+Maxwell)

The girls got to go through the piles of cut quilt squares/fabrics, one for each of them.  There was harmony and quiet talk. There were trades and "here's another cat fabric for D."  There were groans when I mentioned them needing 65 squares each, but they set to counting.  There was bird whistling from #2, story reading from #1 to #6, and careful folding by #5.  There was tummy rubbing [on CollegeGirl+Max], and burnt popcorn which meant making another batch, "but YOU make it this time grandma!!"
It was a perfect day for the last day of Spring.
Photos and video by Grandpa.

So Far In September

The birds are a pair of Junko's. The bee's are...bee's?
I was going to add the name of the yellow flower, but I have forgotten.
Moving on....the trailer has moved back home.  We were trying to sell it.
The truck is a rental, we were able to sell the truck right away.
Again, moving on...a back hoe tractor was brought into the neighborhood to prepare a lot for a new manufactured home! This beast  ripped apart the old metal trailer in giant bites.
On Friday, the 15th, 3 family members went to the airport.
On he way was a stop at Denny's for an early dinner.
Dan, Grandpa, and our daughter Ashley, with her daughter Rhiley, were going to Las Vegas for the wedding of our youngest daughter, Stephanie, the College Girl.
Gpa with Grands, in the plane, and waiting for the plane
 Views from Las Vegas,
Of things IN Las Vegas, and environs!
The sharks were in a tank you can walk thru, via a tunnel.
Before the wedding, some got to ride IN a limo!
Bride[before dressing] and Groom, Groom and FlowerGirl, and in the limo
Here in Washington, we watched the ceremony on tv, via the wedding chapel.
Ashley's other 2 girls, Avery and Devyn, were here to watch with me.
They had ice cubes and apple slices.
On the tv, if you enlarge the picture, you can see the lobby of the venue. [That reception wasn't to bad, but on The Terrace, where the kids were married, the video was poor, but better than nothing!]
My MIL took this pic after the ceremony.
Mr. and Mrs.

I did not go to LV because I prefer not to fly.
I have barely done any stitching.  I need to change that!

It's A Beautiful....

Day in our neck of the woods, won't you be our neighbor.
Seriously, the sun is SHINing...no not SHIN ing.
SHINNING!
Of course, it isn't June yet. Here in the NorthWet.
My daughter.
She has been busy, as usual King Friday.
She is taking her string art a bit further.
And today, she set up this hand me down.
mini greenhouse
Her girls, #'s 3, 4 and 5, were playing in it.
"It's HOT in here" they kept saying.
I suggested mom set up the sprinkler...inside it!
And then she took apart a broken box spring. Hoping to make use of the wood for art  and the springs for the garden.  Either way she is up-cycling  it.
No Daily Patch to show today, the latest are still in the camera.
Have a nice day!

68 to 71 DP's & Other Collages

My daughter took these, different days. Look at those blues!

Same daughter made these for her in-school girls.
The girls helped with the cards.
This is one of my WIP's.  I decided to do this with the embroidered color names I did a few weeks ago.  What you might not be able to see is how much fun I had! Am having.  This is the first one, and for once I didn't start with Meg, the oldest GD, or Devyn, the youngest. {for a few more weeks} I went to the middle, to Rhiley. This is just basted, so there is a lot to go.
As for the Daily Patch...I am now up to # 71! Click to enlarge.
And here is the backside, for those of us who like this too.
The 2 larger pix are of a "mole hill".  I named them that when I took Arlee Barr's FrankenStitch class, way back.

Game Farm, Pinata, String

My youngest, Steph and her Bearded boyfriend, who are devoted Sounders Soccer fans, went to the Olympic Game Farm  where you drive among the animals...large animals!  You toss wheat bread to them and take interesting pictures.
p fffffff t  click to enlarge and see this one
Or get stuck in the herd.
That's what you do for your birthday.
Or you do this for your birthday...That your older brother brought for you!
Ashley got to go first, her bday celebration, her gets first chance.
Then the kids got a go at it. This time in size order.  That's because
biggest granddaughter, Megan, [#1] is a pro at smacking open the pinata!
[just don't throw the bat]
Grandma's creative endeavor last week was to make pumpkin cards to send the girls.
the middle card is for all 3 of #2's girls, thus the 3 eyes, 3 hearts, 3 U's
With a paint swatch titled "pumpkin patch", I 'wove' 3 p'kins for the front.
I kept the colors names visible on the other 2 cards too, for #1's girls.
Lame? Sure. Fun? Course.
Somewhere along the line, I forgot to mention that my MIL has written a story book! The Adventures of Bronty the Little Dinosaur.  My FIL drew the pictures for it, and my daughter copied one of them into string for them.
She has also been working on ornament sized stringys.

from a walk one day, Ashley and fam.
This is a Robberfly, I think. This is my husbands photo.

Back in April...2015....I was working on a shrug for myself. I was using up the various wool yarns I have. But I just wasn't liking the shape. So I FROGGED the whole thing!!!!
And have started over. So far it looks pretty much the same as these pix.
"Frogged" means undo, unstitch, pull the yarn back into a ball.
