Arms and Houses

daughter and dad
Look, Ashley and Danny have a stick house.....hohoho.....These are the backs of the first round of houses being built in this neighborhood by the KCCHA [Kitsap County Consolidated Housing Authority]
A and D start building in June, there are 13 houses in their 'group', and they get to help build all of them! Their loan is approved and signed for, they have some of the tools they need, and the excitement to go with the whole experience!

For myself, I have another Mosaic Block done, but haven't photo'ed it.

I A Zombie...Hear Me ROAR

yesterday i was a yelling zombie. i was sure one of the neighbors was going to turn me into the yell police. i had a 89 yo woman, 2 smart-kids, 5 and almost-2, and a 'do what i want' husband here driving miss crazy.

lily can open the gate and let the dog out.
megan can water the sky.
my husband can start week-whacking with no warning and
make the smart-kids scream.
my mom has no RAM left, so i answer the same questions over and over again.

we don't want the dog to get out, she doesn't like to come back and we have a very busy street close by.

megan is very independent and doesn't like to follow all the rules...or even some of them some days. she doesn't do harmful things, but she doesn't need to water the sky, either, dammit!

the flip side of that is that she is very good to lily, which is fantastic, because lily is very good to megan too. they look out for each other!

both girls have been able to manipulate small things from the git go, [and rhiley, too, for that matter] so taking difficult hooks off the gate to open it is no big deal for them. i think i need to get the small legos back out now that lily doesn't put everything in her mouth....we just have to watch out for rhiley when she is here because she is still younger.

so on the days i have the girls, because daycare costs are out of the question for ben, i also have to keep an eye on mom more because she tries to do more than she really should, to help me out, and her falling down is not what i want.

this and that

Look how much this hanging plant covers! Ben picked up 2 of them for me.
So after giving Dad [on left] a buzz cut, what do you do? You [son on right] give the dog [furry thing in middle] a buzz too. [a bit less furry]
So when you have a new deck you need a new banner too. A banner for birthdays. The squares will have the letters on them, when I figure out how I want to do them.
the shadow really shows how the banner looks. I used 2 Charm Packs for this. A Kona Cotton, solid colors, and a American Jane Pin dot pack.
These Charm Packs are so fun! I don't have to spend forever trying to cut fabric for a project. {I don't have a table devoted to cutting, so getting the stuff out...blah blah blah....}
I folded the Pin dot prints in half and doubled the sq.s so I can have the words on both sides. I am also making a quilt top/tablecloth from the sq's.
I didn't buy this, but wouldn't this print be a great Stack 'n' Whack print???

A New Park

We have a new park in town and it is loaded with fun things to do! Besides the kid friendly play area, there are ball fields of all sorts, walking trails, etc.
Ashley and Ben took me out of the house today to go play. I had fun with the girls.

I realized, last night that I have not been out of the house in almost a year, having mom to take care of.

Removal Company & Clearing Up a Few Things

Dorothy thinks the dragon in this picture looks like an elephant fetus....such imagination... ...hahahaha, funny Dorothy!
And this doctored-doctored picture is for Susan who couldn't find the rackus-frackus cat. Did you see the dog, Susan?

So here is the end of the shop addition...being ended....being ripped off....being torn down.
The roof leaked, there were holes in the floor. But it sure was stubborn about coming down. And there were "big-assed" spiders lurking in the woodwork, too. Dan said he even squelpted {squeal-yelpped} when he saw them.

Ben is standing under the YES. So why all the removal?
To rebuild of course!

So....Vicki Welsh isn't the only one with birds nests....bird nests.....birds nest-isss....anyway, this a Junko nest I just noticed yesterday in the newspaper box across the street. There is someone at home there too.

So as one child learns the home buying/building process, another learns about being foreclosed on. Learn new things every day, so I say.

pictures of moments in my life

Lily was helping me take pictures yesterday.
Dan and Ben worked on removing the leaking back "room" of the shop/garage. {The white area past the green wall} They are going to rebuild it, and make it more waterproof.
Everyone else's blog has pictures of flowers in their yards....here is mine one claim to green thumb fame. A wile climbing rose. I started it from a shoot I cut off another bush. We put it here as a temp spot, but the roots found their way down through the hole and rooted itself to the ground under it. So much for moving it.
The Mosaic Block that I am adding all the rv's to. Boy could I use a road trip now!
Here is the crocheted 'bias tape' all stitched down.
Seen all together, my 9 patch of Mosaic Blocks. I have gotten quite a lot done, even with life interrupting!
Oh look, an interruption. Lily helping me show you the fabric I purchased for a future....garment, I hope.
With both gates on the deck and the better weather of spring time, we are all getting a chance to get outside.
Ben made me a footstool that I covered with a boring sunbrella fabric.

Happy New Yea....opps...wrong day...Happy Mothers Day

and Happy Day to all you Grandmothers too!
of course this Gup, as dear Lily started calling me one day, thinks that a big big big glass of something alcoholic would be just the ticket...so long as it comes without a hangover!
I did have an early gift this week. Megan is going to the only school in the district that will have all day Kindergarten next year!! Yipee!
No one who has met Megan can believe she is only in pre-school. I tell you folks, we are making the babies smarter with every generation!
Now for the pictures....not of the kids, silly, of fabric!
I really wanted to add an RV or 3 to my Mosaic Blocks quilt, so I got a piece of this print with a blue background.
I fell for this print, big time. I am going to try to make myself a dress using this and what ever else I can find to go with it, hopefully from my stash.
I should take a picture of the whole yard for you to get a better feel for how bizarre and of course, perfect it will be for a wearable garment.
This is another piece from the collection...I didn't get this one, but it is tempting....
