Cosmo Thread is Awesome

I was loading pix from the camera and found a few Meg took....remember, Meg is only 5.....

picture 2 by Meg

Lamp  by Stephanie.  Stick off the beach. Wood from scrap pile. Shade and wire parts from a Cute Lamp.  Art on shade from Steph's imagination.
Quilting.  I decided to add the lines with a washable marker instead of trying to eye them from the blue tape.  Much easier this way.
 I. Love. This. Thread. This Cosmo 2-strand embroidery floss.

figured it was time for a cat picture....since this is a 'cat in the batt' blog.

Babes Are Us!

The newest big sister, this time with a mouse in her mouth!

Ashley just told us that baby #2 is in the oven, and will be for another 8 months or so.  Plenty of time to set the table.  I'll holler when dinner is ready, go ahead and start that new project, there's oodles of time.

look...vicky is trying to get straight lines.....boy thats a new one!
the new thread from Cosmo is great!!!

New Threads

After starting the quilting and not liking it, I came across some new threads, embroidery threads.  I think I first came across them on this blog, which sent me surfing for more info and then a place to buy.  An etsy shop had them, but were charging
way more than I wanted to pay, unfortunately.  Then I found some of the threads here, but not the 2-strand variety.  Those I found here.
I think I did a damn good job picking threads to match my 2 background fabrics.
Though they look the same, all 5 are slightly different shades.
While taking pix this morning IN THE SUN!!, I had a 5 year old hand show the size of the spools.
not to be out done by a 2 year old, who unwrapped the threads also.
This is a close up of the area I had started quilting....some of the threads have already been picked out.
And just because, a feather drying out after a night of drenching rain.

Applique Idea

So this is the beginning of an applique idea.  I think you can guess what the theme is.  I know the shells are way out of proportion...and the dolphins are the same size as the fish... but I figure this is as close as I will get to 'being there'.  Well...other than a fish tank.

Does Your Back Look the Same as Your Front?

I was just over at Kristin Sheilds' blog and it got me thinking......

I have always done needlework, in fact I was born with a silver thimble on my finger.
But it wasn't until 10th grade home ick that I heard The. Statement.

"Your Work Should Look the Same on the Back as it Does on the Front."

Time stopped.
Those words went in my ears, past my mouth, that dropped to my chest, and rumbled around inside the rest of my body, until I could safely blow it out my ass.
Whence Time started up again, I closed my mouth, and did what I always do....
make a mess of my backside!!!!

I. Am. Pooped.

The Mosaic Block quilt is sandwiched and ready to start quilting....when I have some energy.  I had the girls for 3 days straight, the pay-for sitter wasn't able to take them this weekend.  And Ben had a mandatory over-time shift Saturday night, so I didn't even get that little break.
Quilt with Dogs
Back of quilt, 1 dog.

Hop on auntie.
i had to add this to the quilt.....need i say more?

So Maybe I'm Not A Whale....

But I'm not a dolphin yet either.....thank you everyone for the encouragement!  Just like anyone else, that's what I need.  I have started the walking again, granted it's not been much, but I gotta start somewhere. We have the girls today, for the weekend actually, so I will take them with me, but leave the dogs on the deck.  Megan starts school on Monday, I will take a picture of her this weekend since I won't see her Mon. am.

All My....FAT

So in order for me to be honest to myself, I have to blog this picture of myself....I plan to print one out and put it on the fridge.  I have always had weight trouble,  but years of depression have left me a beached whale!  I even have the super bright white skin to give me the bleached look.

Around The House

Stephanie painted her room, again, this summer, but she left the ice cube and framed it with black duct tape.  The wall color is oranger.

Lamp.  Made from a branch of madrone that Steph found on the beach.
I am teaching Megan how to sew.....with a tapestry needle, yarn and paper.
Where's Lily?  Oh there she is.
Grandpa time.
Sharing waffles with Great Grandma.

Lately I have been visiting the Glorious Color blog,
which has left me with a few ideas floating through my right brain.....and boy does. That. Feel. Good.

Hows This For a View?

This view is for sale!  Ok, the land is for sale and includes this view.
I have been there, provided this is the place I am thinking of, and this is even better in person!  I wonder if the sale price includes the gold mine under it??

"Ben hit a Bear."

"We threw it in the cart."
And this is how it got home.  The kids, Ben and Steph, said they got lots of looks while driving home.

Heading into....

Ahhhh....the beach on Hood Canal.
The water was the perfect temp.  Next year I want to have a floaty and some better water shoes, shorts and tees work for a suit.
a little wave action....Hood Canal isn't open ocean, so surfing is for Lego guys, in other words, small stuff.
other people enjoying the day....

including Rhiley.
Good bye  beach, I hope to return with in a year.
