The year this happened, Ashley was supposed to go to New York and Washington D.C. the following spring over break, 2002, a school thing. It wasn't decided until the last minute that it would be safe enough to go. The group went to Ground Zero and saw the Twin Lights....
What a special memory to have. I guess we all remember something special about that day. In my generation, it was Kennedy's assassination. In my older son's life, it was the black out in NYC (and he happened to be there and spent the night in a hotel in the dark, with some friends). This one was a big one, though. No airplanes flying is what I remember most, after the fall of the towers.
