Silk from India

While Niece #2 was working in India in an orphanage last year she got me some Silks. They are all scraps in various sizes. Perfect! But the story to go with them is Priceless! Scroll down.

That round thing in this shot is the tag that some pieces have. Price? Yardage?

"Hi aunt Vicky,

I am glad you like it! I thought that you would ;) It was fun picking it out too. I got a tour guide to take me to this wholesaler of silks in a shop with a floor made entirely of a mattress to lounge around on. Hehehe so I spent two hours sprawled out on the squishy floor of this shop while the silk man threw colour after colour down in front of me and made darned sure I wanted one of each colour!!!! (Indian Salesmen are extremely persistent) But he didnt have to do much convincing as I did in fact love them all! "

What will I do with them? Not sure yet. Am hoping to make at least one Crazy Wallie with Stephs help with the embroidery.
Did you notice the spelling on 'colour', eh?

  2. Oooooh, delish! I went to a pillow party today and the woman who makes the most gorgeous pillows you ever saw is a "former" quilter so many of the pillows have patchwork on them. Nothing complex, just random squares and rectangles. The result was stunning.

    Maybe pillows????
