So, Karen commented {hi Karen!!} that she uses the removable-front-of-a-fan for making circles
when she saw my posting about trying to use the laundry basket 
to get a large tracing.
I had thought of the glass table on the deck too,
not that I would turn it over, but just lay the fabric on top.
So what do you use when you need something not on your sewing/craft table?
I posted the photo of a quilt ruler being used to measure the depth of snow...I would so do that.
I did consider the pencil-on-a-string trick, but decided pounding a nail into the floor wasn't a good idea!
